PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW:

Graduate professional mechanical engineer and guns and ballistics expert, Roy Ruel consults both nationwide and internationally on both civil and criminal gun and shooting related matters.  He has been employed as an expert consultant and witness on cases involving many types of guns including pistols, revolvers, rifles, and shotguns as well as Airsoft, CO2, BB/pellet, and paintball guns. 

He has provided litigation support on civil and criminal cases for both plaintiffs and defendants.  Clients have included public defenders, individuals, government, the military, insurance companies and the legal profession.

He has also investigated and prepared outdoor shooting-range off-range hazard assessments, and indoor shooting accidents in several states.

Ø  Graduate licensed professional mechanical engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the United States and internationally.

Ø  Expert in ballistics, firearms, paintball, and air-guns mechanics, and safety.

Ø  Casework has included accidental and intentional shootings for defendants in criminal cases, and for plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases.

Ø  Author of more than 40 firearms related published articles many devoted to the technical functioning of guns and their ammunition. 

Ø  Nationally recognized firearms expert; New York Post, Boston Harold, Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Palm Beach Post, and television appearance.

Ø  Experienced in a broad range of weapons, pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns as well as paintball and CO2/air-guns. 

Ø  Federal and State court deposition and trial expert testimony.

Ø  Mr. Ruel has consulted with law enforcement departments on firearms issues in the US and abroad.

Ø  US Army active duty and reserve service with expert qualification in military small arms.

Ø  Long-term shooter and collector of civilian, military and police firearms of historical and technical interest.

Ø  Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington majoring in design.

Ø  Technical studies in firearms, their function, operation, recoil, mechanics, ballistics, recoil and safety.
